Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose
At WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs 2018, former brothers-in-arms will finally clash when Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins battles Dean Ambrose.
Oct. 22 should have ended with a shining moment for The Shield. On the same night that their fellow Hound of Justice Roman Reigns was forced to relinquish the Universal Championship and leave the ring to battle leukemia, Rollins and Ambrose captured the Raw Tag Team Titles in his honor. But as the dust was still setting, The Lunatic Fringe stunned the WWE Universe and his partner by unleashing a sudden and unwarranted assault on The Architect.
In the weeks to come, Ambrose refused an outright explanation for his actions. He once thought of The Shield as the source of his strength, but he came to believe it was actually a “burden” that weighed him down and made him weaker. As if the betrayal wasn’t heartbreaking enough, Ambrose sent a shocking message by burning his trademark Shield gear.
WWE Champion Daniel Bryan vs. AJ Styles
At WWE TLC, get ready for the highly-anticipated rematch that will pit newly crowned WWE Champion Daniel Bryan against the Superstar he stole the title from, AJ Styles.
It was a match that was never supposed to happen. The stage had been set for an immense showdown between then-titleholder Styles and Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series, but when Bryan’s name came up during a heated exchange between Styles and Lesnar’s always-instigating advocate Paul Heyman, a brawl broke out between The Phenomenal One and The Beard.
As a result, two of the blue brand’s best fought in an impromptu matchup for the WWE Championship later that night, and Bryan did the unthinkable, completely foregoing good-sportsmanship and kicking Styles below the belt when the referee wasn’t looking. Right or wrong, the maneuver gave him the advantage and, moments later, the WWE Title.
In the wake of his brutal subsequent match against The Beast at Survivor Series, Bryan returned to the blue brand, casting off the WWE Universe as he claimed that both the “old Daniel Bryan” and The “Yes!” Movement were dead, and the “New Daniel Bryan” would never again give up on his dreams like he did when he announced his retirement.
Finn Bálor vs. Drew McIntyre
As “General Manager-Elect” Baron Corbin prepares to make an example of his various dissenters. One of his most persistent foils, Finn Bálor, will battle Drew McIntyre in a match that could well serve as a preview for all who oppose The Lone Wolf’s authority.
Bálor’s beef isn’t strictly limited to Corbin, though, as he and McIntyre have crossed paths before in recent weeks. They’ve only come to blows in passing, with McIntyre administering a Claymore Kick to the Irishman and the first-ever Universal Champion returning the favor in the middle of the Men’s Survivor Series Match. The Scottish Psychopath, for the most part, shares the same opinion of Bálor as the GM-elect: He’s too small and too nice to make any kind of an impact. Bálor, of course, is plenty more than meets the eye, and McIntyre — and Corbin — would do well to keep that in mind. Though, admittedly, toppling Drew McIntyre would be a truly extraordinary task, even for him.
Braun Strowman vs. Baron Corbin (Tables, Ladders & Chairs Match)
Though Braun Strowman has been sidelined with an injury, Baron Corbin has made it clear that their match at WWE TLC will go on as planned. According to Corbin, he will become the Permanent General Manager of Monday Night Raw if and when The Monster Among Men is not medically cleared to compete.
It was supposed to be a showdown of redemption for Strowman. After The Lone Wolf cost Strowman his match for the then-vacant Universal Championship against Brock Lesnar by striking him in the back with the title, Strowman immediately went looking for payback.
Concerned with beating her brother Shane McMahon and SmackDown LIVE at Survivor Series, Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon agreed that if Strowman helped Team Raw win the Men’s 5-on-5 Traditional Elimination Match at WWE’s fall classic (without touching Corbin prior to the contest), then he would “Get These Hands” on Corbin and would receive a Universal Title Match against Lesnar.
After Strowman fulfilled his side of the bargain, however, Stephanie cited lawyer difficulties as the reason why she couldn’t give Strowman exactly what he wanted on Raw. Instead, she created a match between Strowman and Corbin for WWE TLC. If Strowman won that contest, he’d finally receive his Universal Title opportunity against Brock Lesnar at Royal Rumble. If Corbin walked out with a victory, though, he would become the permanent General Manager of Monday Night Raw. And if he didn’t, he would lose all authority. That match was scheduled to be a Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match.
Things took a drastic turn, however, when Corbin, Drew McIntyre and Bobby Lashley unleashed a three-on-one assault on Strowman that shattered the fierce Superstar’s elbow. Now, it seems The Monster Along Men’s misfortune may just work to Corbin’s advantage.
Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey vs. Nia Jax
There is truly no rest for the rowdy. For at WWE TLC, Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey will aim to defend her coveted title against the mighty Nia Jax.Since winning the Raw
Women’s Title from Alexa Bliss, Ronda Rousey has been on an absolute tear, charging into every fight and taking the Raw Women’s division to new heights.
Meanwhile, the dangerous Nia Jax has been focusing all her energy on finding a way to reclaim the Raw Women’s Championship, an opportunity that she earned by winning a Battle Royal at the historic all-women’s WWE Evolution pay-per-view.
As she waited for that match to be made official, The Irresistible Force kept herself busy, most recently landing the punch heard round the world on SmackDown LIVE Women’s Champion Becky Lynch that broke the The Man’s face and gave her a severe concussion, taking her out of WWE’s fall classic.
Then at Survivor Series, Jax continued to show that she will do anything to win when she took out her own teammate in the Women’s Traditional Survivor Series Match to assure that she would be the bout’s sole survivor. That same night, Rousey suffered a brutal beatdown at the hands of Charlotte Flair.
So now, as the two prepare to step back into the ring to settle the business they never finished at their WWE Money in the Bank showdown, the WWE Universe is left wondering if perhaps Jax has positioned herself as one of the greatest threats that Rousey has ever faced.
SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Asuka (Triple Threat TLC Match)
The Man, The Queen and The Empress – what a triangle offense. A collision course between the three elite Superstars has been set for WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs, where Becky Lynch’s coveted SmackDown Women’s Championship will be on the line against Charlotte Flair and Asuka in a Triple Threat TLC Match, which is also the first-ever Women’s TLC Match.
The anticipated clash will see a fully recharged Becky Lynch compete on pay-per-view for the first time since WWE Evolution, where she left with the W after a classic bout against her bitter enemy Charlotte. After numerous battles, the blistering rivalry between the two was somewhat amended at Survivor Series, as Becky chose her former best friend to take her place in the match, and Flair viciously assaulted Ronda Rousey with a Kendo stick and a steel chair to step out as SmackDown’s unruly Queen.
Where Lynch is locked and loaded for action, Flair appears aimed and ready to step up to the plate, but standing across from The Man and The Queen is The Empress of Tomorrow. The addition of Asuka came as a result of the Nov. 27 episode of SmackDown LIVE, which saw SmackDown General Manager Paige issue a Nine-Woman Battle Royal Match with the winner joining the championship battle at WWE TLC. Surviving eight top-notch contenders, Asuka joins an epic free-for-all that will see three forces of nature collide in one seismic clash for the top prize on Team Blue.
The Bar vs. The New Day vs. The Usos (SmackDown Tag Team Title Triple Threat Match)
Three of the most dominant tag teams in recent history will collide at WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs as The Bar defends the SmackDown Tag Team Championships against The New Day and The Usos in a Triple Threat Match. These three teams each have five Tag Title reigns to their names, making them some of the most accomplished squads to compete in WWE.
Sheamus & Cesaro captured the SmackDown Tag Titles on SmackDown 1000 by defeating The New Day’s Big E & Xavier Woods. Since Survivor Series, though, the reigning champions have hit a snag, with non-title losses to both The New Day and The Usos. Plus, under the Triple Threat Match stipulation, pressure will be even higher on The Bar, considering they do not need to be involved in the decision to lose the titles.
Natalya vs. Ruby Riott (Tables Match)
After The Riott Squad ruthlessly attacked Natalya and sent her crashing through a table on Monday Night Raw, WWE.com has learned that Natalya will battle Ruby Riott in a Tables Match at WWE TLC.
The Riott Squad came to the Dec. 3 edition of Raw ready to continue their brutal vendetta against Natalya, ambushing the former SmackDown Women’s Champion without warning when she was scheduled to battle Nia Jax & Tamina in a tag team match alongside her close friend, Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey.
With Natalya left to The Riott Squad’s mercy — or lack thereof – after Nia and Tamina neutralized The Baddest Woman on the Planet, The Riott Squad positioned her on the ring apron and drove her through a table they had brought to ringside.
Who is destined to go through the table when Natalya battles Riott one-on-one? Can The Queen of Harts find a way to keep the rest of The Riott Squad at bay long enough to finally get retribution in her highly personal rivalry with the destructive faction?
Elias vs. Bobby Lashley (Ladder Match)
At WWE TLC, Elias will go head-to-head with “The All Mighty” Bobby Lashley.
In recent weeks, one thing has become clear: Either you’re with the self-proclaimed “General Manager-Elect” Baron Corbin or you’re against him.
However, Elias does not seem to be playing to the tune of Raw’s man-in-charge and has paid a painful price for his defiance, most notably suffering a 3-on-1 beatdown courtesy of Corbin, Lashley and The Scottish Psychopath Drew McIntyre on Raw.
Now, the strumming Superstar will be out to sing a melody of pure retribution for the attack in a Ladder Match and to close the year right with his first pay-per-view win of 2018. In this Ladder Match, a guitar will be hanging high above the ring. The first person to reach it will be able to use it as a weapon.
WWE Cruiserweight Champion Buddy Murphy vs. Cedric Alexander
At WWE TLC, Cedric Alexander will finally have the opportunity to reclaim the WWE Cruiserweight Championship when he gets his rematch against Buddy Murphy.
The Soul of WWE 205 Live had one of the best years of any Superstar in WWE, winning the title at WrestleMania in the finals of the WWE Cruiserweight Championship Tournament for the then-vacant title against Mustafa Ali. Alexander enjoyed an undefeated streak throughout 2018 until he faced Buddy Murphy at WWE Super Show-Down.
In front of his hometown in Melbourne, Australia, Murphy defeated Alexander in an electrifying title bout to win the WWE Cruiserweight Championship, sending his hometown fans into a frenzy. After losing the championship, Alexander fell into a bit of slump and was defeated twice by Tony Nese, which prompted WWE 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick to refuse to give Alexander his rematch for the title at Survivor Series.
However, after dealing Lio Rush his first loss since The Man of the Hour debuted on WWE 205 Live and then pinning Buddy Murphy in a tag team bout, Alexander proved to Maverick that he was ready for the rematch. As a result, Maverick announced that Alexander would indeed be Murphy’s next challenger and that the match would happen at WWE TLC, streaming live this Sunday at 7 ET/4 PT on WWE Network!
R-Truth & Carmella vs. Jinder Mahal & Alicia Fox (Finals of MMC Season 2)
At WWE TLC, Jinder Mahal & Alicia Fox will battle R-Truth & Carmella in Mixed Match Challenge Season 2 Finals.
Mahal & Fox earned their place in the finals with a hard-fought victory over Apollo Crews & Bayley. Despite losing their first three matches in the competition, the dangerous duo has proved resilient throughout, and with the advantage of having The Singh Brothers meddling from ringside, Shanti may indeed prevail.
But first, they will have to conquer R-Truth & Carmella, who danced their way into the finals by overcoming The Miz & Asuka, who triumphed in the first season of MMC. Whether you’re a fan of the dance breaks or the easy-going nature of the unlikely combination, it’s hard to argue with their ability to work as a solid unit, and their natural chemistry could prove to be the difference in their final battle.
The culmination of WWE MMC’s exciting second season comes at the end of a 14-week round robin event, where the winning tandem will receive the coveted 30th entry in their Royal Rumble Matches in January 2019, giving them a greater opportunity to win the celebrated free-for-all before going on to headline WrestleMania. In addition, they will receive an all-expenses paid vacation to anywhere in the world.
Who will triumph in the Finals? Find out this Sunday at WWE TLC!
Rey Mysterio vs. Randy Orton (Chairs Match)
Rey Mysterio and Randy Orton will pull out a chair (or two or 10) to settle their scorching rivalry, and the time and place for the hard-hitting encounter will be at WWE TLC, where they will go head to head (and swing for swing) in a Chairs Match.
The bitter hatred between these two Superstars fueled several jaw-dropping moments, including Orton viciously unmasking The Master of the 619 during the Nov. 20 edition of SmackDown LIVE. Given their chaotic brawls in recent weeks, nothing will come close to the battle that awaits them in this steel sharpens steel affair.
Will Mysterio capitalize on his moment for redemption? Or will The Apex Predator claim another “victim?” Don’t miss Mysterio and Orton swinging for the fences in what promises to be a chaotic Chairs Match at WWE TLC, Sunday, Dec. 16, streaming live at 7 ET/4 PT on the award-winning WWE Network
